Abide in God - Means

"Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 2 Corinthians 7:1 ... dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

I am a retired pastor of the Church of God (Tennessee).
My name is Isaac Livingston. I am from Neyyoor India.

Jesus Christ tells us to abide in him: So, what is this abiding? In John 17:21 Jesus Christ says: "They all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: ..." Here, we see that Jesus Christ was in 'God the Father' and 'God the Father' was in Jesus Christ. They abide in each other. Then, it also says that "they (disciples) also may be one in us." This is also the same kind of abiding as that of 'Jesus Christ' and 'God the Father'. How can this be possible, seeing that they are in the spirit, the disciples are in the flesh? Yes! But, if they are truly born again (not as fake born again of the churches), then the holy spirit will reside in them. Soul is the spirit in appearence, but soul is a person. Spirit can expand, stretch, etc. Our spirit can reside in us and at the same time it can sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In order for us to abide in God or with God, we need the spirit. That is, we must be born again, that is, we must be born of the spirit. Jesus Christ says in John 10:30, "I and my Father are one." That is, they both abide in each other. Then he says in John 17, "21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:" Here we see that God desires that we also abide in God, as Jesus was with the Father. For that we need his glory. The glory is the spirit that God will give, which we need in order to abide in God. How to receive the spirit and abide in God. Please go through the lessons below. "John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." The world cannot abide in God, but you can. Why don't you give it a try. Links are below.
