'Born of water' does not refers to water baptism. Christians look at the scene of coming out of water after immersion in water baptism, they think that 'born of water' is water baptism, which is an error. Jesus Christ says in John 3:5 "I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." That is, nobody can enter into his kingdom without being born of the spirit and of water. In verse 3 he says, "I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." We can learn from these two verses that, (1) born of spirit is first and that is to see the kingdom, and (2) the second is born of water and it is to enter his kingdom. So, born of water is extremely important. Ephesians 5 says, "26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." Here, verse 27 says that it is to present it to himself, that is to take this person to his kingdom. So, by doing this he/she enters the kingdom of God. That is, this person is born of water and so he/she can enter into the kingdom of God. Now, look at verse 26, it must say what is to be born of water. It says that the person is sanctified and cleansed by washing with the word of God, which is the water. So, born of water is to be sanctified and cleansed by the word of God. Jesus Christ says in John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you," It is important that we walk according to the word of God and if we do, we are born of water. "1 John 2:14 the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one." So again, word of God abide in you is born of water, and it will make you overcome the devil, which will qualify to enter into the kingdom of God. "Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." By being, born of water, which is also born again by the word of God, we will live or abide with God for ever in his kingdom. "1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
