Church is the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ

"Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 2 Corinthians 7:1 ... dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

I am a retired pastor of the Church of God (Tennessee).

Church is the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ

1. God, Grace, Eternal life

God, the Creator of all, is holy. He is perfectly righteous, pure and faultless. We have committed sins and became sinners. Disobeying God, is Sin. So, God tells us to obey him and to become holy. Many people, even Christian preachers say that it is impossible to obey God. It is not true. God is very reasonable and practical. Along with the commandments, he gives grace and power of God, which is spiritual and supernatural, to enable us to obey the commandments. Grace is supernatural power of God. If we want to obey God, we can and will receive the power. If we have the grace and power of God, we will produce the fruits of righteousness. God's word with his evidential presence is the grace of God. If we strive to obey God, his supernatural presence will be given to us, to the extent that we can feel his presence. With his power and presence helping us, we can become holy. This is called the grace of God. Holy life is possible by the grace of God. God is impartial towards people and God loves everybody. But, if we love him enough to keep his words, meaning if we obey him, then God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, all will love us in a special way and will make their abode with us and we will be aware of this supernatural influence in life. John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Then, we can and will live holy. It is the secret of godly people and the worldly people will not come to this experience. Religious people are also taught about eternal life, etc, which are all fake and are just a show.

2. Holy Ghost Church is the Body of Christ

Spiritual Church, that is the church under the Holy Ghost, is the body of Christ. People of God become the body of Christ through the process of salvation. God knows who 'such as should be saved' are. "Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." God joins them in his Church so that they may continue in the word, become disciples, know the truth and be converted into a new person. "John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." They will follow Jesus Christ as his disciples. They are the true church. All other churches are not the body of Christ, because they are founded by men and not by the Holy Ghost. So, most of them will twist the word of God to preach what the people want to hear. "2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." So, the congregation in these churches, do not want to hear the truth and the preachers will also do not preach the truth, but they tell stories. And Christians are satisfied with their churches.

3. Gift of God in Churches

God gives ministers to his church, for his body to grow. But, fake ministers mixed themselves in churches showing themselves as servants of God. God gives gifts of the Holy Ghost to the believers in churches, even to the rebellious people, who are disobedient to his word. Satan also fills the churches with counterfeit gifts. So, all those who are used with gifts in churches are not necessarily godly people. "Psalm 68:18.. thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also." Most churches are lead by good and efficient administrations, denominations and executives, but not by the Holy Ghost. The true gifts of the Holy Ghost is alien to them and even most of them hate the gifts to the point that they ridicule them. Further, another big tragedy is that the devil has established many so called Christian churches and shows many weird false manifestations and call it as the gifts of the Holy Ghost in order to smear the name of God. It makes ordinary people to be turned off from the gifts of the Spirit, thinking that they are all of the devil. It is a real deception and it is a tragedy.

But, God gives true servants to feed churches with spiritual food for growth, even to the fullness of Christ. "Ephesians 4:11 he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ." Godly people will use the gifts of the Spirit, according to the leading of the Spirit, for the edification of the church. His Body grows to maturity through the operation of the gifts of the Holy Ghost. The Gifts of the Holy Ghost are given to the church, to be operated in the church, to edify the body of Christ and to establish believers. "1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will." The purpose of God's ministry is to make the saints perfect, as Jesus Christ is perfect. Ignorant, unstable, sin loving people, do not have the knowledge about either the Holy Ghost or his gifts. They ignorantly ridicule the operation of the gifts of the Spirit in churches. As ignorant people, they sin against the Holy Ghost, and God will not pardon the sin. They have fun now, but they walk towards eternal destruction. It is a very sad thing.

4. Repent and Confess our Sins

"1 John 1:5. God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:" God is pure light and in him there is no darkness, which is shadow. God's word says that if we walk in darkness, that is committing sin, and say that we have fellowship with God, then we are not telling the truth, since we can not have fellowship with God while we live in sin. So, repent, don't cover up the truth with lies, but walk in the light that is God. "7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." So, the important point is to tell the truth. If you commit sin, repent and change your life from sin into obedience and only then the blood of Jesus Christ will clean us, that is, until and unless we tell the truth and walk not in sin, the sins we have committed will not be forgiven. "Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" This verse also says that until our sins will become past, seeing that the blood will be applied once, because Jesus Christ died once, his blood will not be applied. That is, our sins will not be forgiven, until our sins become past. Further, "the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin," that is all our past sins will be forgiven to us. "8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." We should not tell a lie saying that we are not sinning, if we are sinning. "9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." If they confess their sins to God and then God will forgive their sins, and also cleanse them from all unrighteousness, meaning that God will clean the very core of unrighteousness that causes sin so that they will not sin again. "1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning." God's purpose for writing the epistles is that his people must not sin. "1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." False preachers try to exploit verse 8 & 10 saying that if we say that we do not commit sin, we will be liars. Ignore these sons of the devil. Always remember that we were sinners in the past and by the grace of God now you live in the light as God is in the light. You have fellowship with holy men, but not with sinning people. Since God washed the unrighteousness that causes sin. If this actually happened in our life, we will not sin again. Until it happen, we will be sinning.

5. Love God is to Obey, it leads to abide in God

True lovers of God will obey God. Fake lovers will not obey him. "John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: 1 John 2:3... hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him." If we truly love him, we will obey him. Then we will be in him and we will not sin. Now we have become his body, the church.

Perfect obedience will lead us to the abiding of the Holy Ghost, the Father and the Son. That is, God will live in us. We will overcome the devil and we will not sin. If we sin God is not in us. "John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him... 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 13 -young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one... 14 I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one." So, if we love God we will obey God, then Jesus Christ and God the Father will love us and will live in us. As God abides in us, we have to walk as God walks. But, if we say that Jesus lives in our hearts and live in sin, then it is a lie and it is a fake statement. If we sin, it is proof that God is not abiding in us.

6. Purify Ourselves as Jesus Christ is Pure

If we have the hope of meeting Jesus Christ in the second coming, we will purify ourselves as Jesus Christ is pure. "1 John 3:2 -- we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." If God abides (lives) in a man, then he cannot commit sin. So this believer will be holy. "1 John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." Jesus Christ gives grace to repented people to stop their sins, then forgives their past sins, and thus saves them from their sins. "Matthew 1:21 --- his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. 1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin." God will never call an unholy person as holy. Those who commit sin are sinners and they are not saved. "John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil;"

7. Perfection of Church, His Body

God is preparing a church for himself, cleansing her with his word, not to have spot or wrinkle or blemish or any such impurity. "Ephesians 5:25 -- Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." The Church is the workmanship of God. "Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works." When God completes his work, the Church will look like him and in the end she will have the glory of God with her own righteousness. "Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." This church alone will be caught up in the rapture. But almost all the evangelical Christians claim that they will be a part in the rapture also. But only the 'sons of God' and the 'bride of Christ', who kept themselves holy for God, will have part in the rapture. "Revelation 21:9 --- Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;" The holy Jerusalem is the bride of Christ.

We must become holy in order to meet Jesus Christ at his second coming. The Bible requires that we attain holiness. It is through a process. Depending on the dedication and determination of individuals, the duration of the process may be short or long. "Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." False believers are not in the process because they will not strive to enter and they will also hinder other believers not to strive. They will seek other easy ways to enter, without striving to enter. But the true believers will strive and grow until they will not sin anymore. Our success in living a holy life is the direct result of our striving to enter through the narrow gate of obedience to God. "Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate... 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." Striving is hard work. We have to bring our body into the subjection of the Holy Ghost. "1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." If we are subject to God, he will give himself to us and make us holy, as he is holy. "Ephesians 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ,.. 25 ..., even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." So, if we walk in his ways, we have entered the strait gate already. Praise the Lord!
