At his last "second coming," heavens and earth, which is the present solar system, will be dissolved by fire. Jesus Christ will bring a new earth and new heavens. That day will come as a thief in the night, as men least expect it. However, it will not happen for another 2100 years. Then, Jesus Christ will judge everyone in truth and righteousness, according to their works.
Preachers frequently preach about the second coming of Jesus Christ. They preach that Jesus may come anytime as a thief in the night. For the first 'second coming', Jesus Christ is already here turning people from sins, and it refers as "today if you hear his voice" that could be any time. But for the destruction of the world, even though the nature of his coming is as "a thief in the night", so many other events have to happen before it, like the thousand year reign, etc. So, at least the end of the world is more than a thousand years away. I have a video clip explaining that we may safely say that the present world will not come to an end for another 2100 years from now according to the scriptures. You may listen to the clip in this link: "Rapture Video." However, God will destroy this solar system by fire. "2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless." So, if we believe the word of God, we have to live diligently without sin, so that we may live eternally with God in heaven.
"Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless." Our earth and heaven are going to be destroyed, and God will replace them with new earth and new heavens. New heavens (plural) and they are for the Sons of God. God's righteousness, peace and joy will fill the new earth and the new heavens. "1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; .." The heavens we now have refer to the solar system, that is, sun, moon, few stars, planets, etc,. They all will be burned into a ball of fire, which will be the lake of fire. God says that he will create new heavens. Heavens are many. Sons of God and the bride of Christ will be in the new heavens with the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father. New earth also is considered heaven. Righteousness will be in heaven. The glory of the new earth will be different from that of the new heavens. God is directly visible in new heaven, and there will be no temple there. But, the bride of the Lamb is figuratively called a city, the new Jerusalem, and as the temple of God. The New earth has a tabernacle and people worship God through the tabernacle. The glory of those in the new heaven is bright as the sun, but the glory of those in new earth, is like what covered the nakedness of Adam and Eve. "1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and ..., when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. Matthew 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father." Please refer to this link for more information: "Heaven."
