What is the Faith that saves Us?

"Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 2 Corinthians 7:1 ... dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

The hope of a Christian is to meet the Lord Jesus Christ at his second coming. Whoever has this hope will purify his life. So, the proof of this hope will be seen in his life. The evidence of this life is faith, which will be made visible or seen by others. That is, if we see the purifying works of a man, which is righteousness and holiness we can say that this person has the faith of the Bible.

What is the Faith that saves Us?

Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be upon you.

I like to talk to you about the subject faith. Now a days, everybody talk about faith. Common people, business people, religious people, Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, all talk faith. They refer their faith to wishful thinking, strong belief, psychic mind, etc.

But, the faith of the Bible is different from all these. First of all- It says everybody has faith and it demands that our faith must be in God. In Mark 11:22 Jesus told his disciples to have faith in God, that is to believe that God is the doer of all things. For example: If God tells me to heal a sick person, I will go the person and pronounce healing in the name of God. People may see me do this. But the one who heals is God. If God tells me to move a mountain, I will go to the mountain and command it to move in the name of God. People may see that I do it. But the one who moves the mountain is God. 1 Peter 1:21 says that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and gave him glory so that our faith and hope might be in God.

Heb 1:6 says without faith it is impossible to please (God:) for he that cometh to God must believe that he exists, he is real and he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. That is, God is real and he rewards them that diligently seek him.

We all know that Abraham is known as the father of faith. How did he became the father of faith? James 2:21 to 24 says that when God required Abraham to give his son as a sacrifice, Abraham offered his son Isaac on the alter. God accepted his obedience as righteousness and his faith was made perfect by his works of obedience.

Verse 17 says ... faith, if it hath not works, is dead, ..ie.. if you do not obey God, your faith is dead 18 .. Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, (he implies that there is such a thing like that) and I will show thee my faith by my works..ie by the way he obeys, anybody knows that he has faith in God. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ie to say, if a disobedient man talks about faith, he is bluffing and he is vain.

Rom 12:3 says ... God hath given to every man the measure of faith. Then, Heb 12:2 says that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith; That is he is the one who begins and he is the one who ends our faith. As the author, he has given a measure of faith to begin with to everyone. Then he has given them commandments to obey. Many do not obey the commandments of God. Without obedience, that is without works, their faith dies. Then God ends their faith as the finisher of faith. Salvation is by faith. So, they are not saved because they have killed their faith without obeying the commandments of God. But for those who have obeyed God, their faith has increased, they are saved and they will receive much rewards.

Heb 11:1 faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Our hope is towards the future. But what I have now is the faith. 1 John 3:2 ... but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." If I have the hope, What will I be doing? I will obey God and purifying myself as he is pure. What caused me to do it? My faith in God. My obedience is the work of purifying that proves that I have an eternal hope. This work of obedience is called faith. If no works, it is bluff.

Let me sum it up: God has given every man a measure faith. Obey God with that faith. God will increase your faith as needed. Resist the devil and reject the false teachers and preachers. Believe in God. Seek him diligently. Have eternal hope. Obey God by doing the good works of righteousness and holiness. And when Jesus Christ shall appear, not only we shall see him, but we shall be like him.

Thank you and God bless you.

God Bless You
