When the perfect future is revealed before us, the gift of prophesy that is in part will be done away. When the perfect knowledge comes to us, the the gift of knowledge that is in part will be done away. The perfect is the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When shall Spiritual Gifts be done away? Part 1

Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be upon you.

Todays topic is about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially the gift of prophecy and the gift of tongues. But I like to deal with another underlying problem first. 1 Cor 2:11-14 the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. That is, without the Spirit of God, no man know the things that are freely given to us, which are the gifts of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. That is, the things of God is foolishness to a natural man. Some people have received the Spirit of God. God has given them his gifts and the understanding about those gifts. But the natural men, ie common men, cannot know the spiritual things since they are spiritually discerned. But, natural men study the Bible with worldly wisdom. They proclaim as if they have the Holy Spirit in them. They teach spiritual things. This causes a big confusion. They say they have the Holy Spirit when they do not have the Holy Spirit. They think that they can have the Holy Spirit just by believing that they have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not a ceremonial thing. He cannot be produced by mind power. The Holy Spirit is a person. He is God and he is with God. God has to give the Holy Spirit to a man. So, they should repent and ask God for the Holy Spirit.

Let us see the gifts of the Spirit. 1 Cor 13:8-13. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. That is even though knowledge and prophecy come from God, it come only in part, but not in full. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. That is, when the perfect prophecy and perfect knowledge come, then the gifts, which are in part, shall be done away. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then I know even as I am known. That is, as we see through a dark glass that we used to look at the solar eclipse so that the perfect brightness of the sun may not damage our eyes, yet we can see the eclipse. Here, with the perfect Bible, we can see heaven and God but only in part. We cannot see them with their glory lest we die. But at the rapture, we will see heaven and God perfectly face to face. 13 now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. Vs 8 and 13 say charity is the greatest and it will not fail. vs 8 says prophecies, tongues and knowledge will be done away. Vs 13 says now we have faith, hope and charity, but then only charity.

The gifts of Prophecy is necessary for edification, exhortation, and comfort for God's people. 1 Cor 14:3... he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 says he that prophesieth edifieth the church. Those who do not have the Spirit of God do not understand the operation of the gift and so they think the gift does not exist. They teach errors and make false doctrines.

Christians have heard about the gift of speaking in tongues. But most of them know nothing about the gift. Some could have witnessed the manifestations. But they do not know the importance of the gift. In general, those who do not have the Holy spirit, speak against the gift of speaking in tongues as insanity. They are ashamed of the gift. This is a definite sign of them who do not have the Holy Spirit. If only they recognize that it is designed by God and God is not a fool, then they at least will not dare to ridicule the gifts of God. 1 Cor 14:2 he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speakth mysteries. 4 says He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself. ie, It is to speak to God and to edify themselves. But, it is not to speak or not to preach to people of other languages. Ignorant men challenge God and mock the gifts of God saying: why don't you speak and preach to people of other languages? It is total ignorance.

There are: prophecies, tongues, knowledge, faith and hope. Among them prophecies and tongues have spiritual manifestations. They that do not have the Holy Spirit who are natural men do not like the gifts. 1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. So, they have come up with doctrines and teachings and say that the perfect, which is in 1 Cor 13:10, has come already and so prophecies and tongues are done away. But if the perfect is come, knowledge, faith, and hope will also be done away. But they say that they have knowledge, hope and faith. As long as knowledge, faith, and hope are here, prophecies and tongues will also be here. That is, either all the five will be done away or all the five will remain according to 1 Cor 13:8-13.

The Holy Spirit gives gifts for the perfecting of the saints and for the edifying of the body of Christ. 1 Cor 12:11 says the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. That is, the Holy Spirit decides when to give the gifts. He gives them in part as they needed. One day, God will give them the perfect gifts. Then the gifts that are in part will be done away, according to 1 Cor 13:10.

Now the question is what is the perfect that is in 1 Cor 13:10? 1 Thes 4:16 the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. This is the second coming of Jesus Christ. The sons of God will be caught up with Christ in the clouds. They will see him in his brightness and glory. Not only that, they will also be transformed like Jesus Christ. They shall be with him forever. At this point, the perfect has come. They have the eternal future, which is perfect prophesy, they have perfect knowledge of every thing, and they can speak to God anytime. Their hope to see God is fulfilled. Their faith in God is accomplished. At this point all these gifts are given to them in full. It is explained in 1 Cor 13:10 as the perfect is come. Until that day, all the gifts of God will continue to function, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ, which is the church.

But those who claim that the perfect is already come, say that the perfect is the Bible with all the 66 books in it. Now, if the perfect is the printed Bible, then if someone who hold the Bible should know the perfect future, in place of prophecy that is in part, he must talk to God mysteries, in place of tongues that is in part, and he must have perfect knowledge of the things of the world and of heaven, in place of knowledge that is in part. So far, nobody has this perfect power manifested, when he holds the Bible, or even when he studies the Bible. So, the perfect which is to come is not the printed Bible.

Apostle Paul was instructing Timothy in 1 Tim 1:3 ... thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, That is, these people should not teach false doctrines. 7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. See, they just teach things they don't even know. So they preach errors. They should repent and ask God for the Holy Spirit. If God gives the Holy Spirit to them, then they may learn spiritual things.

Thank you for listening and God bless you.
