What is the Gospel? The gospel is the good news that tells us how we can inherit eternal life. Jesus Christ preached the Gospel when he was alive as a man and what he has preached is recorded in the Bible. Matthew 4:23 says: "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, ..." Mark 1 says: "14) Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15) And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus Christ sent his disciples to preach his gospel even before he was crucified. Luke 9:6 says: "... they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere." So, Jesus Christ has preached the gospel, taught his disciples to preach the gospel and send them also to preach the same gospel that he has preached. Jesus Christ repeatedly says that we must obey his commandments to inherit eternal life. "Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Again he says that the inheritance is according to, or in proportion to, our works, or what we have done. "Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." So, the inheritance of people will be different, in proportion to their work.

Let us look at the cliché gospel that says 'believe Jesus Christ and we will go to heaven'. John 3:14 to 16 say, "whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." Here, verses 14&15 tell us to believe the Son of Man, Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified Jesus. Verse 16 tells us to believe the Begotten Son, who is the resurrected Jesus Christ, it is not the (crucified) Man Jesus. This is to receive eternal life. So, we have to believe the crucified as well as the resurrected Jesus Christ, to have eternal life. Please read about who the begotten Son is in this link: "Begotten Son." Believe Jesus Christ means, not just to believe his life story, but to believe what the Man Jesus has preached the gospel, as well as submit to what the resurrected Jesus Christ is doing (Acts 3:26, 1 John 4:9), to inherit eternal life. If we believe him, we will obey him, in order to inherit eternal life. Most Christians believe that Jesus died and resurrected and think that they are saved and will go to heaven, because of this belief. But actually they will end up in hell, because they will not do what God tells them to do, or what is required of them to receive eternal life.

Please look at a few Scriptures.

Acts 8:25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans. (They preached the word of the Lord as the gospel.)

Romans 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. (Continues through the chapter). (Gospel is the power of God that will take us from faith to faith, and it will protect from all ungodliness and from the deceivers.)

Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? (Gospel is a report from God for us to obey, it is not an information to believe).

2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (Gospel is the simplicity that Jesus will receive only the pure virgin as his bride, but not an adulterous woman).

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Gospel is the grace given, and grace is the power of Christ that will given to you to make you perfect. It is not the information of the death and resurrection for us to believe.)

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 ..... 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (The word of the Lord Jesus Christ, that is, what the Lord Jesus Christ has preached, is the gospel. It is not the information of his death and resurrection for us to believe.)

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (The gospel is to fear and worship God.)
