The Holy Ghost begins and perfects the Church

"Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 2 Corinthians 7:1 ... dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

1. The Holy Ghost begins and perfects the Church

God is Omnipresent. So, God the Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost will be everywhere all the time. However, God the Father is in heaven, Lord Jesus Christ is with his disciples turning away people from their sins, but he is also seated at the right hand of the Father, and the Holy Ghost is in the world. The Church is under the Holy Ghost. God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ, do all things in the Church, through the Holy Ghost. However, the three persons function in unison as they are One Spirit.

A. Kingdom of God Begins with the Holy Ghost

Lord Jesus Christ was baptized with Holy Ghost by God the Father. Jesus Christ spoke the true word of God and did cast out devils by the power of Holy Ghost. So doing, he brought the Kingdom of God to the people. Matthew 3:16 says that Holy Ghost descended upon Jesus Christ at his water baptism. "Matthew 12:28 if I (Jesus Christ) cast out devils by the Spirit of God (the Holy Ghost), then the kingdom of God is come unto you." Thus the kingdom of God has begun with the manifestation of the power of the Holy Ghost over the power of the devil. Lord Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, baptizes the believers with Holy Ghost. "Matthew 3:11 he (Jesus Christ) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, ..."

B. The Holy Ghost started the Church

Isaiah prophesied that the Holy Ghost will descend on his people and and will give his power to them. Isaiah 59:21 says that he will put the word of God in the mouth of his people. In John 14:26 Jesus Christ says that the Holy Ghost shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever Jesus Christ has said. The presence, power and gifts of the Holy Ghost descended on the faithful and will come on the future generations as Joel 2:28-29 say. "Acts 2:16 this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:" Lord Jesus Christ announced that he will start his Church by Peter. "Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church." According to what the Lord has said, Peter was in the upper room waiting for the Holy Ghost, with one hundred and twenty people. "Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)" On the day of Pentecost the Holy Ghost has come by filling them with his presence. The Holy Ghost gave them power and gifts for the purpose of ministry as well as for the edification of believers according to Acts 2:1-4. Having received the Holy Ghost and his gifts, Peter began to preach the gospel. "Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." The Holy Ghost joined those, who had the prospects to be saved, in the Church. "Acts 2:47 --- the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." The Holy Ghost is in charge of the Church. "Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." He leads people in the ways of God, reveals Jesus Christ as well as the Word of God to them. "John 16:13 ---when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:.." He pulls those, who obey, from condemnation and makes them sons of God. "Romans 8:1 ...no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." He abides with the believer in order to rapture them at the second coming of Jesus Christ. "Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." Jesus Christ told his disciples that they should wait until they receive the Holy Ghost and his power before starting to witness. "Acts 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me." Now people start the work of God with a study in a school and an ordination from a church. It is sad that the revelation of the truth, baptism of the Holy Ghost, and filling of his power are totally ignored.

C. The Holy Ghost gives power and gifts.

The Holy Ghost gives power and gifts to Churches as needed. They are for spiritual growth of individuals as well for the Church. He distributes the gifts as He desires for the edification of the believers. "1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will." But the gifts are even given to rebellious people for the function of the church. "Psalm 68:18 Thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them." The Holy Ghost makes the true believers as the part of the Body of Christ, with no distinction as Jews, gentiles, Greek, barbarians, circumcision, uncircumcised, of different social status. "1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."

D. The Holy Ghost guides the Disciples

God the Holy Ghost has guided Apostle Peter to Cornelius and revealed the mystery that God is not a respecter of persons and that Jews and Gentiles are equally considered for eternal life. "Acts 10:19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them." Every aspect of the ministry including the placing of personals is directed by the Holy Ghost. "Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them." The Holy Ghost has even prevented workers from doing the ministry if it is not his will. "Acts 16:6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,"

2. Holy Ghost Perfects the Bride

A. Helps to Comprehend Spiritual Things

Material things and spiritual existence are two entirely different realities. A blind person cannot admire a picture of elegance. A deaf person cannot enjoy symphony orchestra. God may give eyes to the blind and ears to the deaf to enable them to enjoy which otherwise was impossible. So also a person who does not have the spirit cannot comprehend the spiritual existence, especially the heavenly glory. So God gives them the spirit of man for those who desires and requests for the Spirit. Through the spirit of man God the Holy Ghost will make them understand spiritual things of heaven. "1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ."

B. Guides Us to Pray for Real Needs

We should ask all our needs in prayer to our Heavenly Father. But if we do not know what our real need is according to the will of God and how to pray, then all our prayers will be in vain. At this point God the Holy Ghost comes to our rescue. He searches our hearts and finds our needs. He helps our spirit to pray with groanings, according to the will of God, so that we may receive the things we ask for. "Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

C. Regenerate the True Disciples

Jesus Christ says that a person must be born of the Spirit in order to see the kingdom of God or enter into it. "John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." This process is done by the imprint that is placed and by the regenerating work that is done in us by the Holy Ghost. In the process, the body of sin that is flesh is mortified and the life is renewed into a spiritual person, who is a new creature. This person is born of the Spirit or we may say that he is born of God or born again. "2 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. Titus 3:5 --- he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" It is sad that many Christians say that they are born again and are new creatures even before mortifying the flesh, 'the old man of sin'. Becoming a new creature is not only an emotional experience, it is not a conversion of old guilty sinners becoming new complacent sinners, but it is the conversion of a disobedient person to be obedient to God.

D. Sanctification by the Holy Ghost

God will not accept a believer without sanctification by the Holy Ghost. "Romans 15:16 --- ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost." There is no salvation without the truth and sanctification. "2 Thessalonians 2:13 ..God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:" Without the sanctification by the Holy Ghost, the blood of Jesus Christ will not be applied to believers for the forgiveness of their past sins in order to attain eternal life. "1 Peter 1:2 --- through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:"

E. Become sons of God by the Holy Ghost

He gives us power to overcome the flesh. If we obey the leading of the Spirit, he will mortify the sinful deeds of our body, and we will become the children of God. "Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." If we have received the Holy Ghost within us, since he is the Spirit of adoption, God becomes our Father. "Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." Even as we live in our physical bodies, we are qualified to be joint-heirs with Christ. "Galatians 4:6 because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

F. The Temple of the Holy Ghost

If our sins are forgiven but the blood of Jesus Christ, then we are bought by his blood. Now we belong to God. "1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold... 19 But with the precious blood of Christ... 1 Corinthians 6:19 know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Since believers are the property of God, they must keep their bodies pure so that God may dwell in them. There is a severe warning that if anybody defiles the temple, which is committing sin, God will destroy them. "1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." So, if you are saved, then live very carefully and fearfully.

G. Perfecting the Church of Christ and Abiding

He reproves the church, which is in the world because of sin, righteousness and judgment. He guides them in all truth and leads them in godly ways. "John 16:8 ...when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:.. and he will shew you things to come. The Holy Ghost is sent for his obedient disciples. He will guide them and when their obedience become perfect then, he shall live in them. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because ..: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." God has given his salvation plan even in the Old Testament even though it was not preached as gospel. God gives them a new heart and a new Spirit within the heart. Those who receive the new heart and the new spirit can walk in the good works of righteousness, which God has ordained before that we should walk in them. "Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them." He gives ministerial gifts to the Church for the perfecting of the saints so that they may become as perfect as Jesus Christ is perfect. "Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" These perfected people are the true body of Christ, the bride of Christ that will sit in his throne.

Holy Ghost leads us and guides us so that we may walk in Him. The best and easy way to overcome sin is to walk in the Spirit all the time so that our nature becomes spiritual. Then our own nature being spiritual, it will be impossible for us to commit sin because sin is of the flesh. "Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." That is, if the Holy Ghost lives in you, You CANNOT DO LUSTFUL SINS. If Holy Ghost (seed of God) abides in us we CANNOT COMMIT SIN. "1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." In order to have the Holy Ghost in us, start obeying God. "Acts 5:32 --- so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." When the Holy Ghost comes in you, he will make you perfect. But holy spirit is the spirit of man.
