Mercy of God - Means

"Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 2 Corinthians 7:1 ... dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

I am a retired pastor of the Church of God (Tennessee).
My name is Isaac Livingston. I am from Neyyoor India.

Mercy of God is taught that God is compassionate or he kindly forbears toward us who sin against him and will not stop sinning. But, God never showed mercy to people for eternal life. For an example Jesus Christ told the story of a rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31. Verse 24 says, "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame." The rich man cried for mercy, but it was denied. But at the same time mercy of God and grace will be applied for conversion, for people to come out of sin and from the power of the devil. In Ephesians 2:2-5 we see that people came out of sin, etc, in verses 2&3, and verse 4 says that God gives grace and saves them from sins because of mercy. "Verse 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us," So, mercy saved them from committing sins.

Then mercy of God is his tenderness of heart toward the needy. If grace contemplates humans as sinful, guilty, and condemned, mercy sees them as miserable and needy."Matthew 9:27 ... two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us. 15:22 ... a woman of Canaan came ... saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 17:15 Lord, have mercy on my son:.. 20:30 ... two blind men ... cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David." So, we see here that the mercy of God is used to help people on worldly human needs, mostly incurable sickness. However, there is a condition to receive mercy from God. "Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation." So, if we show mercy to others, and if we fear God, then only God will shows mercy to us. "Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:" So, God gives grace and mercy to Gentiles and Jews, that is, to Christians and non-Christians, in the world. They are NOT given in eternal judgment. But preachers confuses between the judgment in the world and the eternal Judgment of God. Eternal judgment is according to what we have done, which is our works. Further, God gives mercy here to those who serve God sincerely. "2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;" So, the servants of God receive his mercy.

God Bless You
