Matthew 5:48 says: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Jesus Christ told his disciples to become as perfect as their Father, who is God. But, he did not tell the children of the devil to become perfect, because they cannot become perfect, since even their father the devil will never become perfect. So, the children of Satan always fight the doctrine of perfection.
The very purpose of the ministry of the apostles is geared to present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Colossians 1 says: "28) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29) Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily." The servants of God try to make believers perfect. They teach the believers to be perfect in holiness. "2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." But preachers, who serve Satan will always say that nobody can be perfect. Hebrews 10:14 says, "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." So, perfection is done in two steps. First they are sanctified and then they are perfected. So, first step of sanctification, which is to make a person righteous, is done by the grace of God. "Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,.." So, first in verse 24 the grace of God makes the person righteous, that is sanctified. So, the person will not sin anymore. In, verse 25 God now forgives his past sins. Now he/she is perfect as in Hebrews 10:14 and by many other Scriptures.
