Christians confuse the Sabbath day rest with Sunday worship. The Seventh day of the week is the Sabbath day. God instructed Israel to take physical rest on the Sabbath day. To keep Sabbath day holy is to take total rest from all physical activities. The Sabbath day commandment has nothing to do with worship. Disciples of Jesus Christ assembled with the brethren on the first day of the week for worship. But, it was not a mandate. We can worship God on any day at any time. Disciples went to synagogues to preach the gospel on Saturdays, but not to worship. “Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. 1 Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.” So, they came together on Sunday for fellowship, to break bread, for prayer, and for the apostles doctrine. This has nothing to do with Sabbath. But we can worship God on any day, and any time.
Let me quote the fourth commandment. Please look at it, so that you may see whether it is the worship of Christians or the physical rest to the Israelite. “Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Sabbath day is blessed and hallowed by resting on that day. Sabbath commandment was given to Israel, to take complete rest by the entire household. One more point should be included with the Sabbath commandment. In Numbers 15:30-36, we see that a man gathered sticks on the Sabbath day and God told Moses to stone him to death and he was put to death. So, Sabbath is to take rest and if someone disobeys, he/she was to be stoned to death.
God told Israel to take mandatory REST on Saturdays, which is the seventh day of the week. The observance is called sabbath, and Saturday is referred as sabbath day. The Seventh-day Adventists think that sabbath is worship. It is their ignorance. The main worship day for Christians is Sundays, which is the first day of the week. However, they worship God on any day of the week. But, the Seventh- day Adventist makes an issue with Christians saying that they should worship on Saturdays, because it is the Sabbath day. Christians has nothing to do with sabbath, they are not observing sabbath, but they worship God. It is caused because the Adventists think that observing sabbath is worshipping God. No, sabbath is to take mandatory rest and the defectors are supposed to be stoned to death. Even the Seventh-day Adventists do not observe sabbath, they do not take rest, and they have no provision to stone the defectors either. They just blow hot air shouting sabbath, without even knowing what it is. How to solve it? Until they admit the truth that they worship God, but not observing Sabbath, this will be a problem.
Seventh Day Adventists is a denomination, which started in 1863. They say that they observe Sabbath day, according to the fourth commandment. But they neither take total rest from work, nor do they stone to death anyone who breaks the fourth commandment. They are ignorant. They have no idea about Sabbath. When the Adventists see Christians gather to worship on Sundays, they call it sabbath, and claim it should be on Saturdays. It is not Sabbath, but it is worship. The Seventh-day Adventists are just confused between Sabbath and worship. Christians has nothing to do with Sabbath. They just worship on Sundays. The confusion is that the Seventh-day Adventists think that worship is Sabbath.
