Now, let us see about the creation of man. "Genesis 1:26 God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: ... 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Verse 27 says, that God created man, in his own image and then it says, in the image of God. It appears as repetition, but it is not. In my language Bible it is implied that his own image refers to his being duplicate, and the image of God refers to his figure. Verse 26 says our image and our likeness, here, our image is actual and our likeness is resemblance. So, God made one as exact and the other in resemblance. So, the soul of man is exact as his soul, the spirit of man resembles his Spirit. God's Spirit fills the space and shines like the sun. Spirit of man is as a candle light. Since, the soul of man is exact as the soul of God, it can posses the attributes of God, that is holiness and righteousness. So, the soul person is given the body. God tells man (soul person) to be holy and righteous like him.
God creates our souls first even before our body is formed in our mother's belly. "Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;" The body is given to the soul in the womb. "Genesis 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground." Even after the 7th day, the sabbath day, which God took rest after all creation, there were no plants, no rain, and notice there was no man. So, the soul of man was created, the seeds were created but not plants, etc. Rain came in verse 6. "Verse 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." After the seventh day, the body was created from the dust of the earth and was given to the soul, which was created on the sixth day. So, the real person is the SOUL and the body is given to that person in the womb. So, from conception, this is a person, and it is not a thing called a fetus. Then, God gave him the spirit and made him a living soul. So, the born again man is a living soul. Since man's soul is in God's image, man has the potential to live a righteous and holy life, with the grace and power of God. But since man's spirit is not in the image of the Spirit of God, man cannot do anything supernatural. The ultimate purpose of creating man in the image of his soul is that he will choose a group of obedient people, who will live holy, to live with him as his children, and to enjoy his glory forever.
God Bless You
