Worship God in Spirit and in Truth

"Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. 2 Corinthians 7:1 ... dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

Worship God in Spirit and in Truth

1. Religion is mostly belief, but not real Spirit

Religion is considered as spiritual. For an example, if you attend church regularly, Christians will consider you as spiritual. But it is religion and it is to adopt a life mixed with rituals, tradition, ceremony, worship, etc. A spirit is an invisible supernatural being. We are flesh life or persons. Our life with the union of a spirit being is, called spiritual. We have to know what is spiritual, in order to become spiritual. Spiritual is to not to gear our activities to be church centered, take bible study, sing in the choir, shout amen to sermons, arrange church picnics, distribute tracks, feed the homeless, etc,. We can do all these without a spirit or God. If these are not spiritual, how to become spiritual?

In religiosity, people have the control. In spirituality, God has the control. We control powers. High volts electricity, cars, jet planes, bulldozers, etc, will do things that we cannot do. But we operate them and they are under our control. God is omnipotent. He has enormous powers. We like to tap them as we wanted. It will never happen; even though some of us fake it by ourselves and the devil helps some others to fake it. This is the story of so many, so called, well known spiritual ministries. But, spiritual person is the one who God does his work through him/her. If I am doing a work by God, or by his Spirit, or by Christ, which are works that I will not be able to do otherwise, then I am spiritual.

Salvation and the word of God are spiritual. The main subject in the gospel is salvation of souls and the kingdom of God. But, people use it to teach health, wealth, safety, etc, which are earthy that are temporary. Man was created from dust and he will return to dust. But, man is also created in the image of God. God is a Spirit and he has soul. The actual man is the soul and God put it in a body that is of dust. God gives him a spirit, call it born of the spirit, or born again, that is second birth. But, man gives his priority to his physical body, which is dust. Most of them do not know about their soul. Others do not even care for the spirit even though it is the life of the soul. They will never be born again.

2. We must receive a Spirit to become Spiritual

By our own effort we cannot become spiritual. God has to give us the spirit of life, or we may say that God has to quicken us. In other words God has to give us the spirit man and the power of the Holy Ghost to enable us to live a spiritual life. If you have a sincere desire to become spiritual, so that you may obey God, then you must ask God to give you the holy spirit (this is not the baptism of the Holy Ghost) and it will be given to you. "Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 13 --- how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." Those Christians, who believe on him, should receive the holy spirit. If they desire to obey God, God gives them the holy spirit. "John 7:39 But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive ---. Acts 5:32 --- and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" God will always keep his word. So ask, if you are sincere and God will give you the spirit. If you have received the spirit, you will be lead of the spirit and then you are spiritual.

Let us see the other side of the spirit. We can desire spiritual things. But we cannot have it until and unless God gives it to us. God controls it. Then, how can I become spiritual? I have a body. If I am born a second time, that is if I am born again, I also have a spirit that God gives to me. It is God’s doing. Now, I am born of God. Now, I have a body of flesh and I have a body of spirit. In short, I have a flesh and I have a spirit. But, these two oppose each other, and desire opposite things. I am the soul, caught between these two, which are flesh and spirit. If I favor flesh, I will obey the flesh even though I hear my spirit in my mind. Now I fit "Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin." But, if I am a spiritual man, I obey the spirit and the next verse will fit me: "Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." This happens, if I determine in my mind to obey God and to be a spiritual person. So, even though we receive the spirit, again it is up to us to follow the flesh or the spirit. But, if we do not have the spirit, we will have no choice, but to be a religious person, who is spiritually dead. But now, if I follow the spirit, I am an overcomer. I can overcome the flesh, the world, and the devil. Now, I am Spiritual and so even God (the seed of God) will abide (dwell) in me.

However, Romans 8:1 appears simple, but it is not. Look at verse 13. Romans 8:13 ... if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” It is not my self control, but I have to do it through the Spirit. That is, I must be asking God to mortify the deeds of my body until it is done and God has to do it for me. Why God is not doing it as soon as I ask him to do? Because he is God. He is my master and I am not his master. God decides by what the intent of my heart is. Not only that, there is a reward attached to it and God will wait until I sweat enough to deserve my reward. "1 Peter 5:10 ... the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." You cannot become spiritual on your own. But, you can suffer to walk in the Spirit with hope and faith in God and God will make you spiritual. "2 Thessalonians 1:11 ... our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:"

3. We must worship the Father in spirit and in truth

We Christians worship God and are satisfied in the manner of our worship. Jesus Christ says that the true worshipper must worship God in spirit and in truth. "John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." We have studied what the spirit is and how to receive the spirit. Now what is the truth? "John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The first step to know the truth is to believe him. Then we should continue in his word, and then we will know the truth. So, again God has to reveal his truth to us. Or the truth will be understood by those who believe him, if we study his word and continue to obey what we have studied. Matthew 13:11 says: "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." So, Jesus Christ revealed the truth only to his disciples. Disciples are those who obey their master. So, obey Jesus Christ, receive the truth from God.

4.  Spiritual miracles can be done by God as well as by demons

'God the Word' became a 'mere man' voluntarily in order to die for the sins of the world. This action of God was prophesied long before it happened. "John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." When God became a Man, it was supported by signs and wonders in order to show that it was him. "John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him." When the Lord Jesus sends his disciples to do the ministry, they were given signs and miracles in order to confirm that they were the servants of God. "Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works - than these shall he do; ---. Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ." The gospel of Christ is to preach the commandments of Jesus Christ so that believers may obey them and inherit the kingdom of God. The primary purpose of signs and wonders are not for people to get healed, etc, but to preach the truth so that people may be saved from their sins and to obtain eternal life.

False preachers, who are deceivers, also can do these kinds of miracles by demonic spirits. The devil can do miracles and imitate God. "Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." So, if preachers do healing and miracles, but if they do not lead people in holy life, then they are false preachers and they are not from God. So, all miracles are not from God. So, all spiritual manifestations are not from God. But God gives the power to live holy life. The life we live with the truth and with the power of the spirit of God, is the true worship to God. But, the music services and entertainments are not the worship to God. The vile demonic entertainers can do a lot better music service and entertainment than a church group. Christians always are mistaken by thinking that a good music entertainment is a worship service to God. This is deception. Our holy life that is with truth and spirit is the true worship to God. Let us all worship God in truth and in spirit through our life. May the presence of God be with us always.

God Bless You
