Which Spirits are known as Spirit of God?

"Mark 16:15 preach the gospel to every creature. Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe (do) all things whatsoever I (Jesus Christ) have commanded: Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega,... 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, ... have right to the tree of life, and... enter ... the city."

Which Spirits are known as Spirit of God?

Three Spirits are referred as "the Spirit of God" in the Bible. They are, (1) The only one Spirit, who is God and who has Omni-Powers (omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience). (2) The Holy Ghost, who is one of the three Persons (Soul) of God. And (3) The Holy Spirit, which God gave men as a gift, which is also called as the spirit of man. Even bible scholars say that the Holy Ghost is the holy spirit, out of their ignorance in the Bible. The Bible refers the holy spirit as a gift given to men by God, and so the holy spirit is not God.

1). God is one Spirit. "John 4:24 God is a Spirit:" This Spirit is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. This Spirit is the only God, who contains the three persons of God. This Spirit is like the body of God, that holds the three souls of God together. He is referred also as the Spirit of God. 2). The Holy Ghost is one of the persons (Soul) in God, who is nested in the Spirit (body), that is God. The Holy Ghost is God, who was the Spirit of God in Genesis 1:2. It says, "... And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." The Spirit of God has a part in creation. Even though he is a Soul, he is also referred as the Spirit of God. 3). The holy spirit, who is the spirit of man, is the third part of a man. Jesus Christ gives the holy spirit to repented men, if they will ask him so that they may live a holy life. The receiving of the holy spirit is referred as born again or born of the spirit. This holy spirit is also referred to as the spirit of God. The holy spirit is not God, but he is called the holy spirit because he is a spirit, and he will lead the person in holy life. This spirit is week and he is like a candle and he can be even quenched by the man. Christians think that this spirit is God. They often are confused between the holy spirit and the Holy Ghost. Even Bible teachers make this mistake, because they do not study the Bible carefully, but study each other's books.

The common name "the Spirit of God" may cause confusion, if we do not know the context of how it is used. The name refers to the One Omni-Power Spirit God, the Holy Ghost, and the holy spirit. This article meant to show that how the name "the Spirit of God" points to three different spirits in different contexts. If you like to know the details of the individual three Spirits, please find them in the links given below. You may click on the links and please enjoy your study.

I am explaining in a video, why the Holy Ghost is God and why the holy spirit is given to man. Link is: "Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit".

Scripture  References and their Contexts

Let us begin with "John 4:24 God is a Spirit:" He is a Spirit or 'One' Spirit. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscience. These power of God can destroy this universe and create another, which God alone can have. Please refer to the link "Three-in-One" for detail study with scripture references. "Numbers 16:22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? In this context, God is referred as 'One' and the power of God is demonstrated in this chapter against Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and their families and people and they were all destroyed. So, it could be the Only God with his omni-power. However, the Most High God, who is God the Father in the New Testament, may be considered as one with the One Spirit, who is considered as the Spirit body of the Souls in God. So, God the Father is the primary part of the One Spirit God. God the Word and God the Holy Ghost are in it with God the Father (God the Most High). When God the Word became flesh, who was the man Jesus, his Soul left the omni-power Spirit and entered the body that was created in the womb of the virgin Mary. "Genesis 41:38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?" The interpretation of the dreams of Pharaoh and wisdom of God is revealed to Pharaoh through Joseph, and were all fulfilled and so on. This is the kind of prophesy and its fulfillment is work of the Holy Ghost, in the Old Testament, as well as in the New Testament. "Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:" This is the Holy Ghost, came to dwell (abide) in Jesus, who became a man to fulfill the plan of God. "Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you." It is the Holy Ghost, who was dwelling in Jesus, casting out the devils. There are many more scriptures refer to the Holy Ghost in the Bible.

The Bible says in many places that the Spirit of God came upon them. It is different from that the spirit of God is given to them. The Spirit of God came upon them or filled them, are just to give a gift to them or to show a manifestation to them or both. This is the doing of God and the Spirit of God here is God. However, the Holy Ghost, the Son including God the Father, can abide in a person. The context will explain that specifically. In that case, their seed remains in them, but not they themselves. But, the holy spirit is given to repented men as a gift from God, to remain in them. In the Holy Ghost baptism and in the filling of the Holy Ghost, the gifts of the Holy Ghost is given to them. Or, some kind of manifestation like healing, prophesy, etc, are shown to them. But the Holy Ghost cannot be given to men as gift. Let me give a few verses: "Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Acts 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. Acts 13:9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, 10 And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand." So, the filling of the Holy Ghost is to impart power. The same thing happened in the Old Testament also. "Numbers 11:29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!" Numbers 24:2, Isaiah 10:9-10, 11:6, 19:20, 2 Chronicles 15:1, 24:20, etc,. Also the spirit of God (Holy Ghost) was upon him, just to manifest, or to give some power for an assignment. But, the holy spirit is given to men to remain in men to lead their life. "Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Then the Holy Spirit is the earnest of our inheritance. "Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." We can grieve the Holy Spirit and even quench the Holy Spirit. "Ephesians 4:30 .. grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit." Then it says very clearly that the Holy Spirit is given to man. "1 Thessalonians 4:8 ... God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit." So, the Holy Spirit is a part of born again man, but the Holy Ghost is God. God has breathed the same Holy Spirit into Adam as part of him at creation. We see that in "Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." God gave the same Spirit to Job and it is in "Job 27:3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life." Here, the Spirit of God is the "Only God Omnipotent" and "the breath" is the holy spirit or the spirit of man.

A born again (born of the spirit) person has the Spirit and Flesh. The Spirit and the Flesh will strive opposite to each other. But, the spirit reveals the things of God to the person and will lead the person to God. "1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." Here, the Holy Spirit serves the person by leading him in the ways of God. But when the Holy Ghost abides in a person, he abides as the owner of the person and the person will be the house or slave to the Holy Ghost. "1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." If the person disobeys the Holy ghost, as God he will destroy the man. "1 Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit." Here, the person can quench the Holy Spirit. But the Holy Ghost will destroy the person if he defiles. See the difference?

In a few places in the Bible, the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit are referred in the same verse. But, if we know the context and what the verse says, we can know which is the Holy Ghost and which is the Holy Spirit. "2 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." Here, the spirit of man is the holy spirit, and the spirit of God is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost teach us through the Holy Spirit. Even the gifts of the Holy Ghost are given to spirit of man and we use it through the spirit. "Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." The Holy Ghost gives the gift of speaking in tongues to the Holy Spirit. As the Holy Spirit gives the utterance, etc, the person speaks. If we have learned to speak in tongues from others, then the holy spirit is not giving the utterance, then it is a counterfeit tongues, and it is not a gift of God.
