"Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 1 Corinthian 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;" God created Adam as a man and then as a living soul, or as 'born again' man. That which was true in Adam’s time is still true today. When the holy spirit enters a man, he becomes a born again man. As a born again man, he becomes a child of God. As a child of God, he gains the ability to see the kingdom of God according to John 3:3 says: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." But if a person is not born again, he does not have the holy spirit. God says a person without the holy spirit is a dead person. Ephesians 2:1 says: "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;". God considers a living man, without the holy spirit, as a dead man even though he is living. His death is concerning the soul, but not the body. But, if he receives the holy spirit, he becomes a living soul, or he is a spiritual man. In both cases, he is physically a living man. One man's soul is guided by the holy spirit, and the other man's soul has no holy spirit to guide him in the way of God and so God refers to him as a 'dead man'.
The holy spirit is not God. Christians are taught that the holy spirit is God, but this teaching is wrong. Ephesians 4:30 says: "grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." This verse refers to the ‘holy Spirit of God’; not to ‘God the Holy Ghost’; the holy spirit is a gift given by God, but it is not God himself. Also, how can the almighty God be stamped as a seal on a man? Luke 11 says: "9) I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; 13).. how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" The holy spirit is a gift given to people by God. The omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God is not given to man as a gift; God himself cannot be given to man as a gift. The holy spirit, however, is a gift God has created for man and becomes part of the man. However, if not for this holy spirit, man will amount to nothing. God stamps this holy spirit on the obedient people as an advance payment for the purchase as an eternal possession, for his glory. "Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." However, this is not the baptism of the Holy Ghost. That is to give gifts and power for the ministry. But, this holy spirit is for your holy living. The holy spirit will lead you to live holy.
