Today we will study John chapter two. It has 2 topics. Both are important and famous. The first one is a miracle. Jesus has changed the water into wine. It is also the inauguration of his ministry with a miracle on his birthday. The next is, Jesus did chase the merchants from the temple with violence. If we have such a zeal, we will also keep the business out of the worship place. Let us study the chapter verse by verse and pick other points also as we see them.

Inauguration of Ministry on the completion of thirtieth Birth day, with a miracle.

"John 2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:" And the third day: What was the third day? Luke 3:21 says that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist and 22 says the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. Notice verse 23. It says Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age. So, Jesus will be 30 years old within a few days. Numbers 4:3 says From thirty years old and upward ..., all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation. Verses 23, 30, 35, 39, 43, & 47 says the same thing. A man has to complete 30 years to work in the temple in the Old Testament. So, as Jesus was about to complete his thirty years, according to John 1:35-49, he took water baptism, John the Baptist has sent a few of his disciples, they brought few more disciples to him and a disciple Nathaniel said that Jesus was the Son of God and the King of Israel. So, Jesus is now all set to begin his work at the strike of the completion of 30 years of age. The third day is counted from the day that Nathaniel pronounced him as the Son of God and the King of Israel. Most probably, this third day was his birthday, completing 30 years. John 2:1&2 say the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. God often uses three days for a new beginning. Now in the third day, they are in a marriage house. So, we can expect Jesus to start his mission at the marriage house. 3&4 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. The mother of Jesus came to him and indicated to him to start his ministry with a miracle. In his own way, Jesus told her to wait for the hour, when he will complete his age thirty. His death as the Passover lamb happened in the same hour that the Passover lamb should be killed. So, it may also happen at the strike of the same hour that he was born. 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. It is also very important to notice that God used his mother, not only to bring him to the world for the mission, but also to initiate his mission. She told the servants to go to him and to do what he tells them to do. 6&7 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. 7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. Servants filled the water-pots. That water was to wash the feet and hands of people. 8-11 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. 9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. 11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. We see the miracle done by Jesus. But, it is also very important to realize that it was the hour that he has completed his thirty year in life and the miracle was the inauguration of his mission. It is not a mere miracle to help the marriage, but it is symbolic. Jesus has converted the common water in the pots, to be the best wine there was. It is to say that Jesus will convert common sinners, who are set aside to purify others, into the brides of Christ. Jesus Christ will receive them on that day of marriage. So, it is symbolical.

Christmas Day according to the Bible.

I like to point out one more thing. Jesus Christ changed the water into wine on his birth day, completing 30 years old. 12&13 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. 13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, With not many days, and the Passover day was at hand, it could mean just a few days and in this case it could be just four days. In my last video, 'which is the birthday of Jesus according to the Bible,' I have showed that the birthday of Jesus is the tenth, and the Passover day is the fourteenth of the first month of Jews. In this case also we see that he did the miracle on his birthday, and the Passover day was at hand with not many days. This is also another proof that the true birthday of Jesus, or the true Christmas day according to the Bible is just before Passover day, the tenth of the first month of the Jews. Even though, the knowledge of the exact day of Christmas is not important for our salvation, it is always good to know. If you are interested to know what is the actual birthday of Jesus Christ, you may refer to these links: Lesson & Video "Days of Jesus".

The Zeal of Jesus was shown By a Scourge.

Verses 13&14 the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, 14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: They sold oxen, sheep and doves, for sacrifice to help those, who came from out of town and money changers were like modern day currency exchange. 15 when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; Why Jesus had to whip them out of the temple by assault and violence? If such thing happen today in our churches, we will call the police, and we will refer it as criminal act. Why did Jesus do it? Point # 1: 16 He said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. The house of worship is a place to give reverence to God, and so it should not be treated as a market place. Now, churches are registered as not for profit organizations, but in reality they are for profit, promotion and growth. If Jesus would come to our churches today, he will do the same thing. Point # 2: 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. It was the zeal of God's house made him do that. If we have such a zeal, we will also do it. But, since we have no zeal, we have compromised to such situations. This zeal is godly. God does not consider this as a criminal act. We think it is, because we are not godly. 18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? They ask for a sign of approval to do these things. But look at verse 23. It says Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. He has done miracles and they are good enough for the common Jews. But for the temple Jews, who were in power, these miracles were not enough and they were asking for a sign. 19-21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. Jesus told them the mystery of his resurrection. They understood nothing. However, he revealed that he will be raised from death in three days, even at the very beginning of his mission. 22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. Even the disciple did not understand the resurrection at that time. But, they got it latter. 23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. Jesus has done many miracles at that time, even though Bible did not record the details of these miracles. So, there were many things that was not written in the Bible. 24&25 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. So, Jesus did not become a pushover to anybody. He knew what is in men. Even now, as Christians, we cannot exploit God by our clichés, prayers, songs or false worships. We cannot deceive him. He is God. He knows us from our zeal. Are you zealous for God?

What is the true gospel and what are false gospels?

Matthew 28:20, & Mark 16:15. Jesus Christ preached his commandments to obey, as his Gospel; it is the true Gospel to inherit Eternal life. Genesis 3:1-4 & 2 Corinth 11:2-4. But Preachers, who are Serpents of Satan, preach the life of man Jesus just to believe, but not to live as a chaste virgin, as the gospel; it is another gospel, which cannot and will not give Eternal life.

What will the true Gospel do?

The true gospel will convert evil people to do good and thereby they will inherit the kingdom in heaven. John 3:19-21 say that people are two kinds, evil and true. Evil doers will not come to the Light, who is God; but people of truth come to God for their deeds to be made manifest. We have good and evil people by our standard of our society or culture. These evil people may be converted to be doers of truth by the power of God, and they may inherit the kingdom of God in heaven.
